OUR COMMITMENTS
1/3 less virgin plastic by 2025
We are constantly improving the design of our capsules and machines to use less virgin plastic everywhere possible.
Discover our initiativesReduce
Reduce plastic by lightening the weight of our capsule
From 2018 – March 2023, we have reduced the total amount of plastic in our capsules by 13% with no compromise on the quality of our coffee and beverages. For a consumer, this is equivalent to 1.5 months worth of capsules saved per year.
Reduce
Reduce plastic by lightening the weight of our capsule
By the end of 2022, we will have reduced the amount of polypropylene in our capsule by 15% with no compromise on the quality of our coffee and beverages while achieving the lightest capsule yet.
Recover
Increase the use of recycled plastic
We are increasing the usage of recycled polypropylene in our capsules to 33% by 2025 and using 33% recycled ABS in our machines and other non-food contact plastic parts to maximize the use of recycled plastic.
Recycle
Improve collection & recycling rates
We cooperate with local infrastructures to develop collection and recycling schemes.
Rethink
Explore new frontiers of circular materials
We are exploring new materials and technologies as alternatives to fossil plastic, made of renewable and/or recycled raw materials, without compromising on quality and convenience for our consumers.
Increase the use of recycled plastic in our machines.
By 2025, we aim to increase the amount of recycled plastics (non-food contact parts) in our machines.
Towards regenerative agriculture
We are committed to responsibly sourced coffee and cocoa and are starting to apply regenerative agriculture methods to improve soil health and protect biodiversity.
Responsibly sourced coffee since 2022
Thanks to the NESCAFÉ advanced sourcing program, our coffee beans have been responsibly sourced since 2022. Our beans come from certified or verified farms applying independent standards with social, economic, and environmental practices that support a better future for coffee.

Sustainably sourced cocoa by 2025
As part of Nestlé's cocoa plan, we train farmers in better agricultural practices, distribute higher-yielding cocoa trees, promote gender equality, address instances of child labour and develop long-term relationships with farming groups.
By 2025, 100% of our cocoa beans will be sustainably sourced.
20% of our coffee will come from regenerative agriculture by 2025
Regenerative agriculture is an approach to farming that aims to improve soil health and fertility and protect water resources and biodiversity. Healthier soils are more resilient to the impacts of climate change and can increase yields, helping improve farmers’ livelihoods. By 2025, we aim to have 20% of our coffee sourced through regenerative agriculture.
Did you know?
Milk represents 30% of our emissions. We are investing in reduced-carbon milk farming by piloting programs in Spain and France with local partners to implement practices that will further reduce greenhouse gas emissions while optimizing farming practices such as soil management, manure-feeding and digestion management.
Contribute to reduce Nestlé's carbon emission by -20% by 2025
Contributing to Nestlé's commitments, we are working hard to reduce our CO2 emissions throughout our value chain, from sourcing our ingredients, packaging our products, and designing our machines to managing our logistics, factories, and energy.
● Virgin plastic reduction by 1/3
● Transition to regenerative agriculture
● Renewable electricity in all our factories
